YORK NE - FREMONT NE

JUST ANOTHER DAY PEDALING AGAINST THE WIND
ROAD KILL : every where and anywhere
skunks, racoons, families of racoons, snakes, grasshoppers
and most of all today FROGS...it caused me to ponder a while, and think why frogs?
and i have come to the conclusion, the road is warm at night, the frogs come out
to play...and thusly they die quickly and an untimely death.
Here is John fixing my flat tire, see we were just about to head out...and last night, since after the FALL on Friday, my bike was all fixed and ready to go for Saturdays ride, i leaned it against a tree...and in the morning i had a flat. Must be due to all the super killing ants around here and maybe not the goat heads....i have no clue what did it, there was nothing in the tube, and neither was there anything in the tire.
This mornings ride was challenging...mainly due to the fact that there was wind. GOSH you may say, yes wind! Great big gusts of it...and blowing either - your choice - in our faces or crosswind....quite the crazy effect is has on the effectiveness of cycling. Surely we know to slow down and smell the roses but, it's not necessary to get us to a standstill.
Above is a photo i took, (cycloto) of the field being watered early this morning.

Just another photo from when we stopped...along the road...of a field...and I think it is pretty.

We took turns leading, and really weren't getting anywhere, and then Stretch managed to bail his bike while following...into the ditch he went, he is okay. He said he was getting close to someone and didn't want to rub tires...in the end he is missing a little bit of skin from his arm to Nebraska, and on we went. WE got to a town called WAHOO, and we had a wahoo of a time, i believe we spent about an hour and a half in this little Retro cafe and had shakes, and moved on to fries...and then juice...and Annette had to have a butterscotch dipped cone, which i believe she managed to get more on and in her hands then into her mouth. That's how quickly it was melting and displaying how hot it is.

We headed from Wahoo to Fremont with a wonderful tail wind and we were sailing above 35km to 40 an hour...but this was shortlived when we took a turn, and now headed into a halting and hindering wind. Perseverance, and a will to do every inch...every inch...we are deciding on making a club labelled that.

Fremont...sign in ... set up camp...shower in an ARENA, oh land of the hockey...makes me feel like i am back at home... The smell of the ice (yahaa) and arena love make it interesting.

Went out to a movie after supper and saw 'the dark night' i do say it was good. As well, it just felt like i was going out to the movies with a bunch of my friends and later was going to return home...but home is a sleeping bag on a mattress right now...a travelling home.

I like this shot above...we see many run down barns amid the fields...and I want to snap shots of all of them, but sometimes we pass them before i even get a chance to get my camera out of its little holder and i don't want to get off my bike.
