WELCOME TO IOWA
OKAY, if yesterday was so hot, today was cold in comparison, we broached 90, and maybe got to 95, but we were utterly thankful for the cloud cover.
WIND : yes of course there was wind...absolutely, positively, and what more, in our faces...it seems as though whenever we would like a little bit of wind in the direction we are going, it just won't happen... let's hope it cooperates with us on WED/THUR the 182 k days.
Today I really enjoyed my ride with Jenna, Annette, Jon, Jess(beginning) and Jeff at the end tagged on.
III : intentional intergenrational interaction. Since there is a age range of 18-81, there is much intergenerational interaction that needs to go on. I thoroughly enjoy talking to all the people on the tour, and yes those decades older than me...or even the some that there are, a decade younger than me. The older gentlemen ( i want to call them old guys) are phenomenal people, well equipped with knowledge, leadership, good cycling skills and just a drive to bike. They impress upon me that if they can do this, definitely us young pups can.
Jenna and I, we were able to talk to a lot of people today about the tour and the properties there of. We were cycling by this huge farm...and say a small building with the word office over it, (i needed to use the facilities--and the cornfields are always inviting but if you get a chance to sit on porcelin...you take it)... so we stopped at this office, and started chatting with the people that worked there, used there facilities, and best of all, got a donation towards the tour.
We also talked to people along the side of the road who were gardening, and a lot of people at the gas station and everyone in subway...they were all curious cats!
SUBWAY: may it be known i love subway, and especially the pickles...oh so love pickles....
Jenna and I had subway nearing the end of our trip as well as a coffee with expresso shots, now i never have really introduced caffeine to my cycling routine, but we flew the last 22 k into camp...we had wings...and we used them, for we were still going against the wind but 28-32k/hr..... (okay, thats fast for against a headwind...and on rolling hills)....
