La Grande to Baker City

We all are learning to live better as a community of cyclists, yet there are still some wrinkles being ironed out, as goes with everything. It is almost incomprehensible the amount of blacktop we have covered, the yellow dotted lines we have passed, the peddle strokes we have made, the food we have consumed, the amount of water we intake. Many things go into making this tour work and make it cohesive. It is also very dependent on us as cyclists, to do the job we are required to do and that is to hand out these business card sized information holding cards, it is to make people aware as are cruising through their city, or stopping at their coffee shop that we have a purpose to what we are doing. That we have a driven force behind the reason we are going across the continent. Many ripples are being made in this pond of life and soon we will see the reaction or product of what we are doing…and it basically comes down to raising awareness for poverty. Making sure people know what is going on in their own hometown as well as broader than that.
So the ride went quite well, and we were in Baker City quite early, giving us (Joshua, Doug, Jeff, Steph and I) time to go to town for ice-cream which lead to staying in the ice-cream store for approximately two hours, it was loverly air-conditioned. Then we headed out and down the street and saw more people from our tour in another little café/pub/eatery and we joined them their until we needed to head back to the high school we were staying at for supper.

“In areas like this, water runoff is a serious problem. Recent years have seen disruptions in the water cycle. Pray for opportunities to learn about the connection between our actions and their effect on the environment.” Shifting Gears – Sea to Sea
