onwards to the next ocean in HOW MANY DAYS?

The leaving of the campsite was postponed, slowed by many things, people filling water bottles, checking the air in their tires, making sure they had sunscreen on (see picture of my newly acquired tan)...and so on and so forth, making sure they have their lunch in their bags. i have newly acquired a pack that hangs over my handle bars, quite small of sorts, but it fits the pre-squished sandwiches that pack in ever so nicely with a slightly browning banana,---Josh says not slight, it comes out like liquid gel gu pack--- (for the potassium of course) not the shake i would so love it in. (this first picture is of after we ascended our second hill, quite the beautiful country side)

as we were leaving camp we looked at our directions (stefanie, hilena, laura, johnny, jessica...and a few others) and figured out when the climb would start for the next hill, as you may recall, yesterday we climbed 4000 feet in 20 miles, today we climbed a little more than that in more mileage, but nearer to the top it was a 7-9 percent grade. (we stopped up here for a photo op of the signage as well as getting some liquid in the form of H20)....
It was a great ride up the hill for we had Larry leading us up at a good pace and we took a few stops to just recoop and get the jello out of our legs. Yes jello, cause your working so hard sometimes your legs begin to feel like jello, but that only last a little while and you need to stop for a quick break to bring them back to normal to finish the ride up.

The descent was decent....there was a large headwind facing us but we took that all in stride, i mean cycle.

Onwards to the peeing habits of my cohorts and cyclists in crime....we have a record setting today of 7 times in the bush, on the porta potty trailer (which is quite stinky by the way--what a way to go, a pooper on wheels)....in the weeds, and along a rocky bank by a lovely steam. This award goes to the one and only Hilena, following is a porta potty shot!

The amount of animals (dead) that we have seen (and i have ridden over is quite large). Just wondering if anyone would be interested in viewing photos of this nature. It would most definitely not be for the faint hearted or weak stomached. comment what you think.

If you would also like to hear about something special send me a comment or if you have any questions as per what goes on here at camp or with all this lovely diversity of people.

this is my newest tan, i figure by the end of this i will have a great many of paths you can follow on my back... maybe i can end up spelling something...and yes sunscreen was on, and so was a oh so sexy safety vest that we all get to wear...you will see them in the other photos all summer long...since they glow irredescently as well shine in all sorts of light...its good that we can be noticed by it...for over 90 transports passed us today at great speeds.
At our group meeting tonight we decided that we would create a count of sorts for the day, but need to be original. Any suggestions?

Here Josh is trying out Julie's chair...i don't think he fits all that well, but it was worth the candid shot and try....his legs i think are the culprit of his inability to actually fit snugly in this ground seater of a chair.

Cheers all, its now time to gather some of my gear for tomorrow's ride...of a lovely 60 some k!! woot woot, fill the water bottles and crawl in for a sleep, its 12:50 in ottawa... and 9 50 in washington...WHAT A DAY!!!

Hi Julia, Ben Helleman here. Just want to say that I've been keeping my eye on your blog. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and photos with us all. That 4000 foot climb must have been a killer so early on the trip. I guess it's nice to get that one out of the way. Keep up the good work, cycle safe and enjoy this opportunity! Say hi to Shawn Luimes and Brent Devries for me.
